Pros and cons of Where To? Search nearby places app for iPhone and iPad

Where To? Search nearby places app good for

My go to app when looking for almost anything, especially restaurants. Love it.
It is the greatest app to use to get yourself around in a new city or even in your home town. Great for finding just about anything and links up to my TomTom gps app. Great APP.

Some bad moments

This app used to be good until the most recent two revisions. Now the wheel spins for minutes and minutes and the screen is frozen while waiting for network update. Somebody screwed up and modified either server access or app access to network. Please fix. Useless as it is.
3D was one of the coolest features about this app. First I have to pay for an update, then the update takes away a key fetaure!! Updates are suppose to add to the betterment of an app, not take away things!! One star until it is fixed.
Been using this App for a while now and find the upgrade better but not necessarily worth the price. Hope to see 3D back and other improvements in the future.
This app is only ok. In my opinion its missing some basic functionality. The biggest example that comes to mind is that when you leave the app it continues to use location services. It even does so if you force quit the app, so its a battery killer. Youll have to go into settings every time and disable and then reenable location services whenever you want to use the app again. The other thing thats missing is just the ability to look at the map and see whats around you. You always have to choose a category, it would be nice to be able to customize the map so you could choose what categories were always displayed around you without starting with a category.
While the app was due for a visual design overhaul (to align with iOS 7 & 8), that doesnt really warrant a paid upgrade with no real additional functionality. But when I discovered a companion app for my Pebble smartwatch that you can use for directions and "keep your iPhone in the pocket while walking or driving" I ponied up. Boy, was I disappointed to find that these directions consist of - literally - just the direction (and distance - in a straight line). There is no real-life use case where that information can be used as a substitute for driving directions, allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket. Unless your car can fly, you probably shouldnt just aim toward a restaurant and floor it. Or you and the restaurant are in the middle of an open field. Even walking its questionable if you can use the direction and as-the-crow-flies distance to get to a destination. So its a bit perplexing that they would market this as a way to navigate while keeping your phone in your pocket. Its actually misleading. Hopefully, its just version 1.0 of this feature and they plan on displaying actual, navigable directions in the near future. Definitely dont upgrade just for the integration with Pebble. Its cute, but currently fairly useless.
Okay, I like the update and that it is very efficient. But my problem with it is that the program has lost a lot of its wow factor. I cant imagine that one would add 3-D in the current OS system since everything is going flat, but it needed something to make it exceptionable. For instance the maps could have a lot more color and could be a little bit more 3-D the dial could have a little bit more color and so forth.......something. Now that may be immaterial to most people but when youve bought this app based upon that wow factor then without it, makes it a little less palatable. I used to love opening up the app in its previous version. It felt as if I was in a very elegant study(and that the bread ground the beautiful black dial etc.). Now it feels like Im in a board room with a bunch of stodgy professors and no one has any interest in any other color but Tan. No, no ladies in red here.
